Keep Pizza Healthy With Nutritional Ingredients
Pizza does not have to taste bad to be healthy. The popular ingredients that make Pizza can offer a variety of nutrients with a mouthful of great taste. Take for instance, the Pizza crust which begins with flour. Flour provides many B vitamins. If the crust is a whole wheat or grain, it be an important source of fiber as well. The sauce, when tomato based, adds vitamins A and C. Cheese is a good source of calcium. To keep fat and calories down use such toppings as the following:
- artichoke hearts
- bell peppers
- broccoli or cauliflower
- Canadian bacon or lean ham
- mushroom, tomato or zucchini slices
- spinach
- crabmeat or tuna
If you enjoy a traditional meat pizza, watch your portions. Eat a salad beforehand to help fill you up. One-eighth of a 12-inch cheese pizza contains about 140 calories.
